A brick cap stands around the downcast shaft, the upcast is a short distance away but filled and obscured by undergrowth.
The remains of another building can be seen adjacent to the shaft, the engine based of the winder associated with the shaft.
What I believe to be an outfall from Longacres flows into Holme Beck just under the footbridge at grid ref 673187. I think the bright orange staining to the water gave it away somewhat………..
There is also the old powder house that lies hidden away in the bushes that is an arched doorway with a little entrance room and then two big rooms. we used to play in them as kids. also there is an open shaft down saltburn woods that is in the hillside just a bit further round from the stepping stones. the circular shaft cap on longacres is open and you can climb on the wall and look down.
now then craig TTC….we are TTC
