The ROC post is situated at the top of Ruebury Hill
The hatch is not locked and the ladder still in place, i didn’t venture inside today but you can see pictures of that here
There are the remains of an aircraft post right next to the bunker.
Update May 2008Â – Interior photos.
Sump pump and switches
Vintage newspaper and targets on bedframe
Original batteries (no mains) and chemical toilet
We visited Osmotherley R.O.C. post on 6-1-08, found it very interesting especially a piece of 1966 newspaper with that weeks Top 10 record chart. The inside is much the same as your 2001 photos show. I have several photos showing the interior on flickr at. http://www.flickr.com/photos/dte51/
Thanks, Dave.
The above ground structure looks to be the base of one of the original wartime above ground posts that were used for aircraft reporting. There aren’t many of those still about.
We were up here today. The entrance has been concreted over, so access was not possible.
