The walk was very successful with 40 people turning up, mainly local from New Marske. Lots of new faces and plenty of interest proving that the community of New Marske is proud of its history. There were also a couple on holiday from St. Albans researching their family history. A similar walk in September 2010 is planned.
Simon – a superb guided walk – many thanks. As the recently retired technology manager of Corus’ Redcar blast furnace, my interest in the local iron ore mining history is growing rapidly, and your depth of knowledge can only be admired. I commend this tour to anyone with iron in their blood!
