The motto above the church door is quite unusual, said to have been carved by a nun “Omnia Vanitas” (All is vanity)
I visited Rosedale a few years ago on a quiet weekday. The Priory remains are near the little school – the village itself had a lovely air of tranquility about it. Well worth a visit! There are also the extensive remains of the former ironstone mining industry present in the area.
