Danby House was the home to the blacksmith, the last blacksmith was Mr Sparks in the 1930s. The small adjacent building was the blacksmiths forge and appears much older.
The outbuildings dated 1878 were cow byres, stables and a cart shed.

Would there be any details of personnel who worked with/for Mr Sparks or the blacksmith who preceded him? I believe my father, Robert (Bob) Hunt may have worked there as a blacksmith. He also worked for his own father, Ward Hunt who had a blacksmiths business in Haymore St., Linthorpe. I vaguely recall being told about some connection between my family and the Acklam Rd. forge.
