This building on Dovecot Street was the offices of the Stockton & Middlesbrough Corporations Water Board.
The organisation became the Tees Valley Water Board around 1899 – 1900
The 1883 date stone and name of the original company are still visible.
It’s been pointed out to me that this was also the building that Radio Tees was based in between 1975 and 1992.
Isn’t that also the original Radio Tees building too?
I think it was Guy! The last time I was in there it was Oblivion Studios, it had a few practice rooms and a recording studio downstairs, upstairs was mostly empty apart from a pool table, can’t remember there being much else left in there. This was probably 2002-2003, something like that!
You Tube has videos for Radio Tees, one is a last look around this building before Radio Tees moved out. http://youtu.be/x_S0deGbpW8

My dad was the night-time security man, Albert.
For many years he manned the reception and answered the phones every night right up until they closed, think our whole street grew up wearing radio tees t-shirts!
Yes it was Radio Tees which became TFM. I presented my first show in there. I also have pics of it turning into a radio station which must have been taken in 1974c the whole place was gutted!
