I’ve been hanging onto these photos for over 15 years, I didn’t work directly on the reline project, but set up a database which held documents and photos for them.
Now that the database and the blast furnace are gone, hopefully there should be no issue with me sharing them.
Hope it brings back memories of happier times in the steel industry and would love to hear from anyone pictured.

I’ve always wondered why the guy at the end appears to be photoshopped in.
Because Alan Heath took the picture!
That fella has been cut in; look at the fall of light on his face compared to everyone else’s and how close his foot is to the man stood next to him; if he was any closer to him he’d have been put on some kind of register!
Hi Chris Twigg,
I came across these picture while searching the internet.
I was on this contract as a welding apprentice for Amec at the time, and was the only one. Because I was the only apprentice I was asked to have my picture taken by someone at the time, it was half way up the blast furnace with my welding screen under my arm.
I was wondering if you by any chance have any more picture and any of this nature?
Many thanks
Russ
Sorry those are the only ones I have.
Not a problem Chris, thanks.
