At first glance this sculpture by Colin Wilbourne is merely some giant kitchen utensils, but there’s actually a lot more going on here. The holes in the handles of the two spoons point to the pole star Polaris.
The colander has holes drilled in it which correspond with the constellations of the Northern hemisphere.
The ladle has the constellations of the Southern hemisphere.
The measuring spoon is actually a sun dial
There are also observations to be made with the shadows of various items on equinox and solstice

This sculpture of greyhounds by Irene Brown was installed in 1995
It was originally on Dovecot Street, but was relocated when the Wellington Square shopping centre was built
The final installment in the series of 150th anniversary mosaics.
The main subject this time is the valley gardens and features the Prince Albert Memorial , section of the Halfpenny Bridge and Viaduct
The artists are Helen Gaunt and Derek Mosey with assistance from the people of Saltburn.
More Steve Iredale carvings are to be found on the west side of the lake.

Near the upper lake is a plaque showing Gunnergate Hall, the plaque says originally built by Charles Leatham in 1857 although other sources say it dates from the 1820s
It was later owned by Ironmaster John Vaughan and after his death by Middlesbrough shipbuilder and mayor Sir Raylton Dixon. It was unoccupied after 1901 although brought back into use as an army base during both World Wars, then unfortuantely demolished in 1946
The outline a boat house is visible next to the lake with an ornamental waterfall to the lower lake.
Next to the lake is a bird hide constructed in 2007

Fairy Dell is the garden of the lost Gunnergate Hall which was the home of ironmaster John Vaughan. The park contains a number of sculptures as well as few reminders of the hall.

The 4th in the series of 150th anniversary mosaics was recently unveiled by Anne Bedell.
Subjects this time are still existant buildings such as the  Primitive Methodist church, Queen Hotel and Railway Station as well as on the left the now demolished public Brine Baths
It also features a representation of current Saltburn town crier Sharon Wilson , the artists are Helen Gaunt and Derek Mosey with assistance from the people of Saltburn.
